Introduction
Welcome to the New Seventh Democratic Civic Club! We are very pleased with your interest in the pursuit of liberty and justice for all people through the democratic process. We believe that we can best serve our community by promoting the principles, priorities, and policies of the Democratic Party and are happy that you are considering joining us in these efforts.
This web site has been prepared as an orientation guide, and reference manual for your participation in our club. Please review it at your leisure to gain an understanding of our past, present, and future. Bookmark this page and use it as a reference when you have questions in the future. If you cannot find an answer to what you seek within this manual, please ask any member, officer or trustee. The sections that follow are designed to answer the most frequently asked questions about our club.
We open with a narrative of the history of our club, from its’ founding through the time this manual was created. The history begins with a description of the club's roots. This is followed by some examples of the political efforts made by the club since it's inception. Finally the community involvement of the club is described. We hope this club history helps you to understand our club and where we are coming from as an organization.
The club history is followed by a description of policies and procedures. These policies and procedures have been developed over time in response to the needs of the club. Suggestions for improving any policy or procedure are always welcome. We recommend that you discuss any ideas with several members, officers, or trustees before raising them on the floor of a meeting.
The next section lists the current officers and trustees. The officers are the people responsible for administering the operations of our club. The trustees are empowered to provide support and guidance to the officers by sharing in the power embodied in the Board of Governors. Please feel free to contact any of them with regards to the club.
Following the officers and trustees are descriptions of standing committees and their chairpersons.
The next section contains the Constitution and By-Laws of our club. These are the formal rules, and regulations, which govern the way we operate as an organization. Changing these By-Laws requires that the members be given an adequate opportunity to study the proposed changes. Changes take several months to review and assess before the club votes on whether or not to adopt them. Once adopted, changes are implemented immediately unless otherwise specified.
Democratic National Committee (DNC) The offical home of the national Democratic Party. This is where you go to find out anything you want to know about the party, from history of the Donkey mascot to the Party Platform.
Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) The place to find about the moderate wing of the Democratic Party. This group has been working to counteract the negative image of liberalism that our opponents have been trying to create for us.
